WELLINGTON TROTS GOOD FIELDS ENGAGED

At Hutt Park to-day the Wellington Trotting Club will hold its first meeting on its own course for several seasons. Good fields have been carded and in the Woburn Handicap and the Wainui Handicap divisions have been made. The Hutt Park Handicap has attracted some of the best performers in commission, although actually it has the smallest field on the card. Loyal Gold has been picked as strongest opposition to the consistent Cameronian. His last start was over two miles at Auckland a fortnight ago. where, after leading to the straight he weakened badly. He will have a half mile less to trot to-day, and will be favoured by the distance. Heliopolis went over a mile and a quarter at his last, start, and had plenty of pace for the final stages. A more open field is engaged for the Metropolitan Handicap of two miles. Strummer has shown new form at his last two starts, and can go the distance comfortably. Jimmy Scott has been a disappointment but has a strong finishing run which £iay get him into the money to-day. kildonnin lead all the way at his last start over the distance, but off the 60 yard mark will have to be at his best to catch the scratch horses.
