SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Miss B. Carter, Warganui, is upending a short vacation in Hamilton. Mrs. Edward Windley, of Lower Hutt, is visiting Wanganui and is staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Pepper, Upper Aramoho. Mrs. Fred Faber, Ingestre Street, leaves to-day by plane for Dunedin, where she will stay for two months. Mrs. W. L. Burgess, Liverpool Street, who, with her husband and daughter, left several weeks ago by air for Australia to attend the wedding of her son, returned on Monday. Miss Barbara E. Bignell and Miss Shirley A. Webster, of Wanganui, and Miss Peggy A. Auld, of Ohakune Junction, are among the six third-year student specialists of Christchurch Training College selected to undertake training in physical welfare at Dunedin Training College this year. Gift Evening. Miss Doreen Majagh, whose wedding is to take place next month, was the guest of honour at a gift evening on Tuesday, given by the bridesmaids-to-be, Miss Gwen Schneider and Miss Pat Nicholson, at the former’s home in Cumbrae Place, Aramoho. Music and games provided entertainment for the guests who spent a happy evening. Visitors Entertained. The principals and cast of the visiting company o± Whitehall Productions, together with commitee members of the Wanganui Repertory Theatre were the geusts of Miss Eileen Warnock and Mrs. Harvey Gilbert! at a buffet supper at the home of the latter, after the first night’s play of “The Late Christopher Bean” on Tuesday night. Bride-to-Be Entertained. Miss Pearl Dundon, who is to be married early in February, has been feted at several gift parties recently. On Tuesday night 18 friends met at the home of Mrs. E. W. E. Carter and her daughter, Miss Nancy Carter, who is to be a bridesmaid, to entertain the bride-to-be. Games and competitions were interspersed with items by Miss Beverly Rosser and Miss MaryHolmes. ENGAGEMENT. Spooner—McGregor.— Mr. and Mrs. M. McGregor, of Oamaru, have much pleasure in announcing the engagement of their daughter, Elsie, to Ronald, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Spooner, May Street, Wanganui.
