The Rev. Gilbert Williams, one of the chaplains on the staff of London headquarters of Toe H, arrived from Sydney by flying-boat on Friday for a two months' visit to the Dominion.
Mr. G. A. Warden, of Wellington, has succeeded Mr. W. P. Hitchcock as resident architect to the Public Works Department at Palmerston North. Mr. Hitchcock has been transferred to the Auckland branch of the department as assistant architect.
Mr. F. W. Haig, chief aviation officer of the Vacuum Oil Company, Australia, has arrived at Auckland on a visit to co-ordinate aviation matters between the Australian and New Zealand companies.
Mr. C. G. Burton, Wellington Vocational Guidance Officer, has been appointed principal examiner and head of the field operations division of the personal bureau of United Nations, and will leave for New York shortly. Mr. Burton was U.N.R.R.A. personnel officer in ' Sydney from June, 1945, to August, 1946, with the task of choosing Australians and New Zealanders to go to China. Later he went to China to visit many of those selected. Mr. Burton is the first New Zealander to be appointed to the United Nations staff.
