MISSION FOR BRUCE AT TRENTHAM

The Royal Chief gelding Bruce claims two engagements at Trentham on Saturday, when the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting will open. He is in the Dominion Handicap (11 furlon.go) and the York Handicap. the open sprint. It is understood that Bruce will contest the Dominion Handicap, as he is engaged in the Wellington Cup (two miles) the following Saturday. in which his stablemate Golden Souvenir, last year’s winner, is also to run. If «uch is the case their trainer. L. J. Ellis, will not be able to ride either. Bruce finished fourth in the Dunedin Jockey Club Handicap on the second day of the Wingatui meeting, and is expected to be cherry ripe for his Trentham engagements. Already he is one of the public fancies for the Dominion Handicap.
