AIRLINER CRASHES

THREE KILLED AND 18 INJURED

Recd. 10.15 p.m. New York, Jan. 6. Three are reported to have been killed an<s 18 injured when a DC3 airliner, carrying 20 passengers and three of a crew, crashed last night in a densely-wooded section of Carmel. New Jersey, in a heavy snowstorm. The plane was bound from Miami to Newark and had been scheduled to refuel at Raleigh, North Carolina, and Richmond, Virginia, but was unable to land because of bad weather. A survivor of the crash said the pilot was trying to reach another airport for an emergenmy landing when the crash occurred.

A later message says it is confirmed that two passengers and the co-pilot were killed and 20 passengers, including Willie Pep, the world featherweight boxing champion, were injured, when the piano crashed.
