Through there being no clash with other race meetings in the North Island, the Stratford Racing Club had the field to itself on Saturday for the concluding day of its New Year meeting. Totalisator investments for the day set a new Taranaki record at £73,534, and the aggregate for the meeting was also a Tarrnaki record at £137,340. Incidentally, the Stratford turnover was a decisive factor in bringing up to more than £3,000,000 the amount of investments at racing and trotting meetings during the holiday carnival. \
