NEW ZEALAND CUP AND STEWARDS’ TO BE RUN ON SATURDAY

One of the big “doubles” of the racing season will be decided at Rieearton next Saturday, on the opening day of the C.J.C. spring meeting. This consists of the New Zealand Cup (two miles) and the Stewards’ Handicap (six furlongs), the stake-money for the respective events being £5OOO and £2OOO, For the former event there are 23 acceptors and in the sprint 21 arc engaged. With plenty of recent racing to complete their preparation, candidates for the two races should he in line trim for their respective engagements. Final gallops at Rieearton should be full of interest.
