PAILS AND BROMWICH N.S.W.’S TENNIS FINALISTS

Recd. 8.45 p.m. Sydney, Nov. 7. In the seTni-flnals of the men’s singles New South Wales tennis championships to-day, Bromwich defeated Brodie, 6-4, 6-2, 6-1, and Pails defeated Quist, 6-3, 6-0, 6-3. In the women’s singles semi-finals, Mrs. Bolton defeated Mrs. Hopman, 6-2, 6-4, and Mrs. Long defeated Miss Fitch. 4-6, 6-0, 7-5.

Disappointing form has been shown ,by the Australian Davis Cup squad recently, but to-day Bromwich and Pails played tennis approaching their best. The Bromwich-Brodie match was mainly a baseline duel. Bromwich excelled in passing drives and delicate drop shots.

Pails completely outclassed Quist, who gave a very poor exhibition. The feature of this match was the terrific serving by Pails, who scored numerous aces.
