ATHLETIC SEASON OPENED
LAST EVENING’S RESULTS The opening series of events of the amateur athlte.e season were competed for at the first evening meeting ol the Wanganui club on Cook's Gardens yesterday when a good muster of competitors came forward. Both cycling and athletic events were held with the following results:— Running Events. 50 yards.—Junior: D. Culver 1, Nixon 2, R. Bristol 3; time, Tsecs. Senior: A. Webby and P. The team ol athletes from the Kaierai Rugby Football Club which have entered into athletics this summer are keeping a points record of all events throughout the season—the first Kaierau man home in any event gaining a point. Points last evening went to H. Pidwell, P. Henderson, T. Cartwright, Nixon, and R. Mosen.
