TAIHAPE GOLF CLUB

LABOUR DAY TOURNAMENT. The Taihape Golf Club’s annual Labour Day tournament was held during last week-end for the first time since 1940, and proved to be very successful. Bad weather marred the first clay somewhat, but did not dampen the enthusiasm of the players, although A did cause the scores to be somewhat higher than they otherwise would have been. Visitors who were present from Shannon, Rangiwaea, Mangaweka, and Utiku Clubs were warmly welcomed by the president, Mr. J. W. Wylie. The tournament was very capably managed byMrs. T. C. Kincaid and Miss C. Bradley, who earned the grateful thanks of all lor their assistance. The following are the results of the competitions:—Open championship, M. Casey; runner-up, R. D. Ross. Raukur<t Handicap, A. 11. McGinniss; run-ner-up, D. Anderson. Best gross score in qialifying rounds, M. Casey; run-ner-up. R. D. Ross. First flight. W. Collier; second flight, D. N. Somerville, first medal round. D. IL Sisson; second medal round, D. N. Somerville; bogey handicap, G. Mortland; stableloro bogey handicap, D. Anderson; four-hall bogey handicap, J. Ma bey and C. Morl land; ladies' putting, second day. Miss C. Bradley; third day, Mr.-. T. C. Kincaid. Men’s putting, second day. J. W. Wylie; third day. W. Collier. (Swing to inclement weather no putting c< were held on Saturday. HANDICAPS The following handicap adjustments were made during the tournament: Q. Kingham to 18, C. Mortland to 20. R. There will no competition ue.sl week-end as all our members are invited to Waimarino Club's closing da. on Sunday. TAIHAPE CLOSING. The Taihape Club will close its season on Sunday, November 10. Ladies’ and men’s competitions will bo held. All members, visitors, and friends arc cordially invited.
