WANGANUI DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB’S SEASON OPENED
The Defence Rifle Club opened its 1946-47 season on Labour Day. Weather conditions in the morning were conducive to high scoring but later in the day heavy rain and high wind upset many marksmen. The shoot took the form of the timehonoured President v. Vice-presidents teams match at 300 and 500 yards, the latter team proving the winners. Some high individual scores were recorded, one 102 and three 101 out of the possible 105. There was a large attendance of new members, among these being three ladies, one of whom scored 99 off the rifle—an outstanding [performance under such tricky conditions. Rifles are now being made available Ito club members at very- reasonable I prices. This and good ammunition should encourage all persons interjested to roll up and make the coming | season a very- successful one. > The following are the detailed) scores:— R.
