RETIREMENT OF G. PRICE Sydney, Oct. 25. Having sold his property at Randwick and retired from training, G. Price was tendered a complimentary • social last week and also received a presentation. Among the speakers at the function were former jockeys, M. McCarten, now a very successful trainer, and E. Bartie. Price first came to Australia as a trainer with Loyal Irish and won the Maitland Cup in 1921. He later purchased stables at Randwick and produced some of the greatest horses of the Australian turf. He won the Melbourne Cup with Windbag, and other important successes were the Epsom Handicap (Gold Rod, Capris), Sydney Cup (Murray King), Caulfield Cup (Beaulivre), Doncaster (Mildura, twice, Cuddle, Gold Rod), Futurity Stakes (Gold Rod), Metropolitan 'Waikare, Jocelyn), Australian Cup (Carry On), and the King’s Cup (Kuvera).
