FOOD EFFORT IN CHRISTCHURCH PRAISED BY PRIME MINISTER

(P.A.) Christchurch, Oct. 29. “Christchurch is the leading city in food savings and in other branches ot the “Food-for-Britain campaign,” said the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, today.

“The latest returns are splendid. Christchurch has now saved 832,000 coupons in 26 weeks, which is easily the highest number for New Zealand and, taking all centres into account, seventh in proporlion to population. It is equivalent to 150 tons of meat and nine tons of butter. It is noteworthy that the Christchurch figures have increased since he campaign started and it is as high now as ever. A recent example of organisation was the drive for fat Ihe week-end before last, when they collected 11 tons of fat.”
