OPENING OF ELECTION CAMPAIGN IN WANGANUI
Electioneering will begin in earnest in the Wanganui electorate to-night when the sitting member, Mr. J. B. Cotterill, M.P., will open the Labour campaign in the Opera House. A series of National Party addresses will begin in the Opera House to-morrow night, when the Leader oi the Opposition, Mr. S. G. Holland, M.P., will speak in support of the National Party candidate for the Wanganui seat, Mr. E. W. Merewether. Mr. Hplland will arrive in Wanganui early to-morrow afternoon from Hawera and will meet members of the Maori race at Putiki at 2 p.m. He will arrive at Foster’s Hotel at 4 p.m. and will be welcomed there by Mr. Merewether and.members of the National Party. night, the organ her of the local branch of the national Party, Mr. A. C. Seivewrlght, has arranged lor the use of the City Council Chambers, which will be linked by a public address system to the main hall. The organising committee for the National Party cand’date, Mr. Merewether, has planned talks in city laclories during lunch hour breaks. The committee, presided over by Mr. A. R. Donaldson, has also arranged meetings in the suburbs and outlying districts.
