OBITUARY
MR. C. W. GRACE. The death is reported of Mr. Charles Woodhouse Grace, Mairangi Bay, Auckland, at the age of 84. Mr. Grace was a member of a distinguished family, most of whom were born on the shores of Lake Taupo, at their father’s mission station, Pukawa. He was the last survivor of a family of twelve, one of whom was Mr. Laurice Grace, formerly interpreter in the House of Representatives. Mr. C. W. Grace was educated at Trent College. Nottingham. Later he became school master at the native school of Pukawa, near the scene of his birth. Later he conducted schools at Koroniti, on the Wanganui River, and at Kaikoha. Mr. Grace was a facile writer of verse, two volumes of which were published. He is survived by two sons. There are five grandchildren and two great grand-children. MR. G. H. GEDEN. The death has occurred of Mr. George Thomas Geden, aged 58. He was widely known in New Plymouth as a masseur. He is survived by a son, Mr. Laurie Geden. MR. L. H. HILL. Mr. Leonard Harper Hill, past president of the Canterbury centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association and well known in athletic circles throughout the Dominion, died suddenly in Christchurch On Sunday. MR. W, GRIFFITHS. The death occurred recently of*Mr. W. Griffiths, storekeeper, of Kelburn. Born in County Carlow, Ireland, Mr. Griffiths served his apprenticeship with the firm .of William Whiteley as a grocer’s assistant, and after sei-vice in World War I came to New Zealand in 1922. After a short time in Palmerston North he commenced business in •lelburn, where he remained until his sudden death last Wednesday morning after a lengthy period of failing health.
