BRUNSWICK CHILDREN’S GARDEN CIRCLE

A gay band of children met on Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. Brownlie for the first garden meeting of the season. The full circle numbers 21, but inclement and stormy weather conditions kept some young members at home- -Mrs. R. Casely gave her children a charming floral lesson —the making and decorating of novel floral containers —a swan and her family and a canoe complete with occupants and paddles delighting the children, who will bring samples of their own design as a competition next month. The children also were given a lesson on the sowing of flower seeds in the open ground, each member receiving three packets of seed, some of which were a gift from Mr. P. Cox. Carnation plants which the members had planted as slips in the autu/.n, at a "cutting” demonstration, were lifted and each child took home chraysanthemum plants. The circle meets again towards the middle of November.
