MORE THAN 5000 ATTEND OHAKUNE SCHOOL JUBILEE

SUG2ESSFUL CELEBRATION (0.C.) Ohakune, Oct. 28. Extending over four days the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Ohakune District High School concluded in fine weather to-day, when present-day pupils held a sports gathering in the school grounds. In the afternoon the pupils were entertained to a film screening, The crowd of 5000 which attended the jubilee celebrations on Monday was a record gathering for the di»tncl. Tne procession, which was halt a mile long, contained more than 40 artistically decorated floats and won the unstinted admiration ot all who witnessed It. More than 800 people attended the Jubilee Ball at night, involving nine sittings of supper. The hall presented a str.King picture with its aecorative scheme. Tne majority of the dancers were in evening dress, adding a note ol dignity. Prizes were given for the best decorated prams and bicycles entered by school children in the procession Held on Monday. Winners were:— School section:—Boy's decorateu b.cycle, J. Gould 1; girls' decorated bicycle, Doreen Steele, l;decorated pram, J. Gould 1; J. Rash 2; H. Ross and R. Ross equal, 3.
