RECORD NUMBER OF PARCELS SENT TO BRITAIN LAST MONTH
(P.A.) Wellington, Oct. 7. The number of food parcels sent from New Zealand to the United Kingdom and Europe last month was a record for this year. The total number of parcels despatched for the nine months ending September 30, was 651,621 and the total weight was in excess of 4,000,0001b5. In January the numbei' of parcels sent was 27,242 and in September the total was 107,345, a considerable increase over the previous record ol 87,412 sent in July last. Wartime records have not yet been surpassed but as Christmas approaches the rush for posting parcels is nearing its peak.
