Mr. R. Lattey has been appointed to represent the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce on lhe City Council's Tourist, Publicity and Development Committee.
Mr. Roy Fellowes Baird, of Takapuna, the district land registrar at Auckland, died suddenly at his home on Thursday night. Mr. Baird, who was in his 57th. year, was seriously ill last year, but recently appeared to be in good health and attended his office as usual on Thursday.
Mr. R. P. London, whose death occurred last month, was referred to by the president, Mr. S. R. McCallum, at the monthly meeting last night of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce. Mr. McCallum said that Mr. London was elected to the executive at the annual meeting and would have proved a valued member. A motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried.
Mr. E. D- Kalaugher, for more than three years engineer-in-chrt’e of the Turakina-Okoia railway deviation has been transferred to Lake Pukaki, South Island, to control a project supplementary io the Waitaki hydroelectric scheme. His former assistant at Fordell, Mr. S. McGregor, has been appointed chief engineer on the deviation. To take up the appointment. Mr. McGregor had to relinquish his position on the Ore Orc (Para-
nara) highway realignment scheme, where he has been stationed for some months.
Messrs. W. G. Belton and A. B. Muggeridge. representing dairy eomnanies shipping through the port of Palea, were elected to the committed of management at the annual meeting of the Federation of Taranaki Cooperative Dairy Factories, held at Stratford yesterday. Mr. F. Mugger!dge did not seek re-election, while Mr. F. Brimelow, the other candidate for election, was not elected. Messrs H. F. Blyde, L. J. Rundle and. C. I-I. White were re-elected unopposed as represent inc the companies shipping I’hrough Moturoa.
Messrs. R. Lattey. D. O. Howden and S. J. Sullivan, snr.. new members of the executive of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce, were wel"omed by the president, Mr. S. R. McCallum, at the monthly meeting last night. The first two were elected at 'he annual meeting reeenly and Mr. Sullivan represents the Wanganui Employers’ Association. Regret was expressed at the death of Mr. R. P. London, who was also elected to the executive at the annual meeting. It was decided that Mr. Lattey hold office for two years, instead of one, and that Mr. N. M. Izard be appointed to '.lie executive.
