MORE PASSENGERS AND MORE FREIGHT CARRIED BY PLANES Sydney, Sept. 24. Half a million passengers and 11,500,0001b5. of air freight were carried by the regular Australian airline services during the year ended .Tune 30. according to figures released today by the Department of Civil Aviation. The freight total was six times greater than the figure for before the war, and the passenger total four times greater. The Australian National Airways carried 100,000 passengers on the Syd-ney-Melbourne run. The hours flown by all airlines totalled 146,254, an increase of 40 per cent, on the previous vear, while the passenger miles jumped from 157,000,000 to 256,000,000.
