Messrs. E. Cameron, W. Horrobin, and H. J. Wardell have been gazetted as wool growers’ representatives on the New Zealand W’ool Board.
Mr A. White, superintendent, of reserves, Nelson city, has been A’vised that he has been appointed to a similar position in Lower Hutt. Mr. Hugh C. Jenkins, Wanganui, has accepted the invitation of the Palmerston North branch of the National Party to address a public meeting in the Coronation Hall on October 16. Messrs. B. E. A. Williams, D. Sherriff, D. Coe, R. Robinson, S. Kitson and A. K. Furrie left to-day to represent Wanganui at the third national convention of Affiliated Junior Chambers of Commerce, which is to be held in Timaru this week-end Mr. W. L. Newnham, of the staff of the Ministry of Works, is to be a member and chairman of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council in place of Mr. T. G. G. Beck, who has resigned from the council, states a Wellington message.
Messrs. D. H. Cockburn and .1. W. Ormond have been appointed producers’ representatives and Mr. David Allan, Government representative on the New Zealanfl Meal Producer* Board. The Rev. T. W. Armour, of Christchurch, has been chosen as the Waikato Presbytery’s nominee for the position of moderator-designate of the General Assembly.
Mr. Band, Auckland city traffic superintendent, who has been studying traffic problems in England and America, is returning to New Zealand in the Monterey, which is due at Auckland on October 13. Mr. W. J. O'Brien has been appointed acting-general manager of the New Zealand Insurance Co., Ltd., during the absence abroad of the general manager, Mr. F. Russell Baker.
Mr. lan G. Turbott, youngeg son of Mr. T. Turbott, or Remuera, who has received an appointment in the British Colonial Service, left by Tasman Airways flying-boat on Tuesday en route to Cambridge University. He will do 15 months' course of training for administrative work preparatory to taking up a position in the administrative branch of the colonial service in Basutoland, South Africa. Advice has been received by the general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand that Mr. W. Err.ngton Keville has been appointed a director of the bank. Mr. Keville is a director of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co., Ltd., and also a member of lhe Port of London Authority. Miss O. E. Hallam, M.8.E., was elected chairman of the Aramoho National Savings Committee at the meeting on Wednesday night. Miss Hallam, who has taken a very active part in the committee’s work, previously held the position of vice-chair-man. Her present appoinment is to till the vacancy caused by the d \ h of Miss E. N. Sampson, who had been chairman since the committee's in-
