Bridge Party and Bring and Buy. The Victoria League held an enjoyable bridge party in the Savage Club Hall yesterday afternoon, when 15 tables were occupied by players. Mrs. E. W. Merewether was the convener. A “bring and buy” stall in charge of committee members did brisk business. The president, Mrs. N. R. Bain, welcomed those present, and prior to the serving of afternoon tea thanked all for atending the party. Nursery Funds Benefits. The funds of the Wanganui Town and Country Residential Nursery Association will bf/:efit by some £230 as a result of the ball held recently at Okirae for this purpose. Although this result is not final the ball secretary, Mrs. Desmond Campion, said it spoke well for the success of the event, more than 400 people having attended from neighbouring districts. B~th. Birthday. On Monday a very pleasant gathering (oak place at the residence of Mrs. Agnes Campbell, Marybank, when about 30 relatives and friends assembled to wish her “Many Happy Returns,” the occasion being her 87th. birthday. Very bright and alert, Mrs. Campbell was pleased to see her sons and daughters, grandchildren and one great grandchild gathered round her for her birthday and all spent a happy evening. She received a number of gifts and some beautiful flowers. A two-tiered birthday cake had pride of place on the table.
