HETIREMENT OF COMMISSIONER < P..\.) Wellingt .n. Sept. 27. Mr. .1. 11. Boyes. Public Service ; Commissioner, is due to go on retiring leave on Monday next. Important and far-reaching changes in the control of the Public Service l are anticipated following the retirement of Mr. Boyes. New legislation is expected this session to bring into effect the recommendations carried unanimously at the conference of the Public Service Association, among which is a proposal that a Public Service Commission of three he appointed, instead of one as previously. 11. is envisaged that the term dt the, appointment will be five years. The present assistant-commissioner, Mr. G. T. 8011, will act as deputycommissioner pending the Government's decision on future policy.
