VISIT TO HOSPITAL

Arriving through a guard of honour provided by the nursing staff, Sir Bernard ana Lady freyoeig made their first visit yesterday morning to the Wanganui Public Hospital, wnere they were met by the chairman ol the board, Mr. D. D. Simpson. Their Excellencies were then introduced to members ol the hospital board, the medical superintendent, Dr. H. L. Widdowson; the matron, Miss E. Buckingham, and several members ol the visiting medical and surgical staff.

After morning tea at the nurses home the Vice-Regal party was shown through the hospital, Sir Bernard visiting the men's wards in company with Dr. Widdowson, and Lady Freyberg the women's with Miss bucking'ham. They spent some time in the wards, and Sir Bernard conversed with several ex-s\rvicemen who are still undergoing treatment for war injuries. During the visit, the GovernorGeneral renewed acquaintance with Dr. Kenrick Christie, who treated him after he was wounded in Libya.
