BRIGHTON TO GLASGOW CYCLE RACE BEGINS.—The first stage of a six-day marathon cycle rate from Brighton to Glasgow. Fifty-two competitors, from England. Scotland. Australia, and Poland, set out from Brighton front, making for New Malden, Surrey, first day's target in the 582-mile race. A message from the Mayor of Brighton to the Lord Provost of Glasgow was carried throughout the race by one of the riders. Picture shows the Mayor of Brighton hands his message for the Lord Provost of Glasgow to George Edwards, of Glasgow, before the start. At right is the Australian Alfred Strom, holder of the world’s record for live miles. Behind him is the other track Australian entrant. Roger Arnold.
