SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Mrs. D- A. Carr. No. 3 Line, has left by plane for Australia. , Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Brown, of Hawera, who have been visiting Raetihi for the school jubilee celebrations, and also visited Wanganui, returned yesterday to their home. Gift Parties.
Miss Veronica Sedon has been entertained at a number of gift parties hostessed a kitchen afternoon at her home on St. John’s Hill when former colleagues of the guest of honour at the National Service Department were present. Another hostess was Miss C. Bates, Lifliton Street, who arranged a gift afternoon. Miss Sedon was also the recipient of a gift from the Y.W.C.A. Business Girls’ Lyceum Club, of which she has been a member for five years. ENGAGEMENTS Procter—Hall. The engagement is announced of Gladys, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Procter, Ferguson Street. Palmerston North, to Herbert Trevor, second son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Hall, of Campbell Street, Wanganui. Russell—Sherriff.— The engagement is announced of Prudence Dorothy, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. P. Sherriff, Kowhiwhi, Taihape, and David Hamilton, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. J. 'll. Russell, Parewanui, Bulls.
Kenny—Chorley. The engagement is announced of Evelyn Ruth, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Chorley, Rangitumau, Masterton, to Alan George, younger son of the late Mr and Mrs. J. P. Kenny, Wanganui.
Rowe—Bartlett.— The engagement is nounced of Joan, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs I. C. Bartlett, Silverhope, Marton, to Douglas, third son of Mr and Mrs T. W. Rowe, Mangaonoho, Hunterville.
