PARKING AREA AT MARTON RACECOURSE

Unless the Rangitikei Jockey Club improves the motor parking area on the Marton Racecourse the Automobile Association (Wanganui) will withdraw attendance of its patrols at race meetings there.

It was reported at the meeting of the assoc.ation executive recently that at the winter Hunt Club meeting the parking area was sodden for the third -.ear in succession and many cars became bogged. Association patrols had an ur ■ ..viable time pulling cars out of the mire. Tractors were also used to pull out cars that were in difficulties.

"It is not a fair thing to ask our patrols io do this sort of thing,”’ said the president, Mr. P. D. England. "The c:..: >vil have to do something and provide an efficient parking area, or our patrols will not attend their meetings. It was decided to recommend to the club the laying down of metal strips to avoid bogging of cars in wet weather.
