U.S. PRICES NEARING RECORD LEVELS
Recd. 7.30 p.m. New York, July IS. The wholesale price index of 31 food commodities has reached the highest level since 1920. It is within 1.2 per cent of the record high level of July 31, 1919. Livestock prices continued to ris*‘ in the Middle West, with a record at Chicago and Omaha for prime steers. Meanwhile movements for consumer boycotts, in which numerous organisations are participating have gained impetus.
