THREE MEMBERS FAREMELLED There were over 30 members present at the monthly meeting of the Utiku branch of the Women’s Division of the Federated Farmers, held at Omatane on July 11. Mrs. Becker was in the chair. After the opening song and creed, the president welcomed all present and said how pleased she was to see such a good attendance, and how all loved coming to Omatane. Motions of sympathy were passed to the Beuck family in the loss they had sustained, and to Mesdames Burning, Thurston and Brooke, who had illness in the family. Mrs. Hebberd read the minutes and the treasurer gave the financial statement. Mrs. Becker expressed her thanks to all who had worked so hard to make the 12th birthday such a

success. A discussion arose re the banner which had not been made to the specified requirements. It was decided to send back the banner and ask that it be remade to the design requested. The housekeeper secretary reported that the trainee would be working in the branch for one week. Mrs. Hebberd, who read the delegate’s report on the recent conference in Wellington, was thanked by Mrs. Becker. Mrs. Gibbs sang two songs, “The Old Refrain” and a request number, “Little Old Garden,’’ both receiving hearty applause. Mrs. Ellison and Mrs. Palmer tied for a competition, which was finally won by the latter. In farewelling three members. Mrs. Becker said the branch deeply regretted the departure of Mesdames Bunning, Palmer and Smith and wished them success in their new homes. She presented each with a small token of regard from Ihc branch. Artistically made shoulder sprays, arranged by Mrs. Whitehead, were presented to the departing members by Mesdames Hammond and < M. Transom. The recipients, who responded and wished the branch every success in the future, were accorded musical honours.
