TALCUM POWDER

IT IS IMPORTED BY PRIVATE FIRMS (P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., July 17. “Infected taclum. powder was imported by private firms in the normal way, and the Ministry of Supply did not arrange for the purchase, shipment, or distribution of the powder." said the Minister of Supply (Mr. Sullivan), answering an urgent question in the House of Representatives by Mr. J. Thorn (Govt., Thames). Mr. Thorn had asked whether the Minister’s attention had been drawn to a statement reported to have been made by Mrs. W. J. Polson, in Thames, in which the allegation was made that infected talcum powder had been imported through the Ministry of Supply. A newspaper had reported Mrs, Polson as adding: “This is a frightful example of State Control. A private firm would be exposed."
