"CATHEDRAL WEEK" TO BE CONDUCTED IN WANGANUI
FUNDS FOR WELLINGTON CATHEDRAL. A special drive for funds lot the Wellington Cathedral will be c inducted in Wanganui for a period of one week—from August 4 to August 10. This announcement was made by the Mayor (Mr. W. J. Rogers), after conferring with Mr. K. W. Kilpatrick, campaign director for the Cathedral Appeal. Details of the recent Cathedral Month” in Wellington were provided by Mr. Kilpatrick, who stated that a splendid response had been received from people of all denominations, and the business community as a whole. The appeal is now being extended throughout the Wellington province, and Mr. Rogers expressed his confidence that Wanganui would play its part in the building of what will be a national “House of Worship and Shrine of Remembrance." A c tizens’ committee will conduct the campaign in Wanganui for which the management of the D-I-C. nas agreed to provide space id the store for a "Cathedral Week" Headquarters. A scale model of the Cathedral standing 6 feet high will be exhibited, and there will also be a display of photographs of all the English Cathedrals, specially sent to New Zealand by the British Council. During the week' a special film “Crown of the City" will be screened by court* sy ol Wanganui theatre managers. Produced by the National Film Unit, this film has created a great impression on audiences in various parts ol lhe province. July 29 has been fixed for a meeting to organise the campaign, and invitations to this meeting wil be issued shortly. ~
