SIX APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED -teed. 5.30 p.m. New Delhi, June 29. It is officially announced that the following have been appointed members of the Caretaker Government of India, formed by the Viceroy. FieldMarshal Sir Archibald Wavell:— Mr. Eric Thomas Coates (Finance). Sir Robert Hutchings (Food and Agriculture). Mr. Eric Coran-Smith (Transport. Railways, Posts and Air). Sir Gurunath Bewoor (Commerce and Commonwealth Relations). Sir Akbar Hydari (Labour, Works, Mines and Power). Mr. Arthur Allen Waugh (Home and Industries and Supplies). (The portfolios mentioned above are not official, but are reported by Reuter). Field-Marshal Sir Claude Auchinleck will continue as Commander-in-Chief Sir Gurunath Bewoor is India’s Civil Aviation chief. Sir Akbar Hydari is Secretary of the Indian Department of Iniustries and Civil Supplies.
