The directors wit] recommend to the share holders at the general meeting, provisionally fixed for July 30, a final dividend of Is 6d sterling on ordinaryshare unit of ordinary stock in respect of 1945, less English income tax at 9s in the pound. This, with the Interim. dividend paid on January 15, represents a total distribution of 2s 6d gross (Is 6.75 d net) sterling a share, compared with 2s gross (Is 5.7 d net) sterling for 1944. The directors have declared dividends of 23 per cent, sterling on both the 5s per cent, cumulative preference stock and the 5S per cent, cumulative redeemable preference stock, being the first half of such dividends for 1946. less English income tax at 9s in the pound. Subject to the approval of the shareholders the dividends will be paid on August 8 to holders of both the London and Melbourne registers on June 29. The transfer books will be closed for one clay, Saturday, June 29. PROFITS AND DIVIDENDS Prestige, Ltd., Melbourne, and subsidiaries show net profit of £37,277 for the year ended March 31, an increase of £6243. Profit of the parent company is £21,099, compared with £21,208 last year. Preference dividend is 8 per cent., and ordinary dividend is steady at 10 per cent. Woolworths, Ltd., (Sydney), is paying the usual interim dividends of 5 per cent, on first preference and 3t per cent, on second preference shares on August 15. IMPORT AMENDMENT All future applications for licences to Import cordage, rope and twine, n.e.i. (excluding sash cord) must show the types and the c.i.f.e. of each type for which a licence is desired, states tiie Customs Department. If desired by importers, licences issued in respect of black bolts and nuts will be amended by deleting the reference to types made in New Zealand being excluded from importation. This reference will be omitted from future licences issued for imports of black bolts and nuts. APEX INVESTMENT CO. OF N.Z. The Apex Investment. Company of New Zealand, Ltd.. Masterton, which was listed on the Stock Exchange this week for the first time, was formed originally as a private company, being registered on April 7, 1933. The object of the founders was to form an investment company similar to the English and Scottish trust companys after the management type. On November 7, 7934, the directors re-registered the company as a public company. The authorised and subscribed capital was increased several times and now stands at £40,000 in 10,000 ordinary shares of 5s each and 15,000 4 per cent, cumulative participating preference shares of £1 each. On the assets side of the balance sheet the company has Stock Exchange securities valued at £30,968 (cost price). The liabilities are as follows: Subscribed capital. £25.000; reserves, £2499; taxation reserve. £692; P. and L. account balance, £1215; creditors, £127; bank overdraft, £1475. The net profit during the last five vears after providing for directors’ fees and provision for taxation, has been: 1941. £1001; 1942, £732; 1943, £674; 1944, £751; 1945, £B9O. The dividend, free of Social and National Security taxes, has been: 1941, 4 per cent.; 1942, 21 per cent.; 1943, 25 per cent.; 1944, 3 per cent.: 1945, 31 per cent. Last year the dividend included a bonus of h per cent. HEAVY SUBSCRIPTION FOR Korma ISSUE. Auckland, June 24.
