ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING AT BULLS (0.C.) Marton, May 28. Last night was wet and stormy but this did not prevent over 60 enthusiastic National Party supporters from attending the annual meeting of the Bulls branch of the Rangitikei electorate. Mr. R. O. Dalrymple presided and gave a resume of the branch’s activities during ihe past year and relerred to the visit of Mr. N. Sullivan, M.P. for Poverty, Bay, who gave an interesting address to a large audience. Mrs. Brookie attended a conference of the Wellington division and furnished an interesting address to the ladies. On April 17 several members attended the annual conference of the old Rangitikei electorate at Marton, when the secretary presented a financial statement showing that Bulls had contributed £9l 13s 6d to the funds last year. Mr. Marumaru also spoke briefly on the Maori election and solicited the help of the National Party in the forthcoming election. The speaker referred to “Freedom” as practically the only method of replying to the criticism of the Labour newspapers and apnealed to the electors to support the publication. In concluding, Mr. Dalrymple referred to the excellent services rendered by Mr. P. J. McGrath as secretary, but on account of his own business, was compelled to retire from the secretaryship. Mr. A. Way, organising secretary, outlined the proposed boundaries of the new Rangitikei electorate and also plans for the election campaign.
In renly to a question as to the probability of holding a National ball in the near future, Mr. E. B. Gordon, M.P., stated that the recent ball in Feilding was a great success, both from a financial and social point of view, and that he would bring the matter up before the Rangitikei Electorate Committee. Mr. Gordon addressed the meeting at. length, his remarks following on similar lines of previous addresses, reports of which have already been published.
At the conclusion of the meeting the chairman thanked the lac.'ics for their splendid hospitality in entertaining all those present to an appetising supper,
and a hearty vote of thanks 1o the ladies was carried by acclamation and also to the chairman for the efficient manner in which he had controlled the affairs of th? branch.
