POWNALL TROPHY

RANGITIKEI WINS IT ON TOSS OF A COIN (0.C.) Marton, May 26. Although Rangitikei lost the Rugby match against. Wanganui B. at Wanganui, by a margin of four points, the team returned home on Saturday night in possession of the Pownail Trophy. Wanganui, the holders over several seasons, sportingly gave it back for competition between the Taihape and Rangitikei Sub-unions this season. Who was the first to hold it of those two unions was decided by the toss of a coin, and the manager of the Rangitikei team, Mr. Les McBeth, called correctly, and brought the trophy back to Marton. It is expected that Rangitikei will be called upon to defend it very shortly.
