STATE ADVANCES BRANCH
WANGANUI NOT YET TO HAVE FULL STATUS
“The letter is not very satisfactory and we intend to press the matter further,” stated the retiring president of the Wanganui R.S.A., Mr. C. S. Smith, in reporting on the efforts made to secure full branch status of the State Advances Corportation in Wanganui.
‘There is a delay in the applications because there is not a branch here,” said Mr. Smith, “and these delays were of great inconvenience to returned men with dealings through the State Advances.
“The corporation appreciates the desirability of each district having its own branch, but because of the availability of staff, and to a lesser extent accommodation, it would not be possible as yet to form a branch in Wanganui,” read in part a letter from the Corporation Head Office in Wellington. “These things move slowly, but we are still on the job and hope to be successful,” remarked Mr. Smith.
