RETAILERS RECEIVE VEGETABLES

(P.A.) Wellington, May 23. Through the arrival this morning of railway truckloads of vegetables from an unknown source, local retailers have once more stocked their shops, and as the growers continue selling from street stalls it is commented that the real “war” over the container charge dispute has started. Retailers received celery, tdmatoes, silver beet, beans, leeks, lettuce, rhubarb and other lines which had been missing from their shelves for a week. The growers’ representative claimed that Tne supplies had been received from Palmerston North, where, it was claimed, the container charge was paid, although payment was the basis of the dispute in Wellington.
