TAIHAPE NOTES
CHURCH OF ENGLAND Taihape, May 21. The annual meeting of parishioners of the Taihape Church of England parish was held last Wednesday evening in the parish hall. The vicar, Rev. W. M. Smallfield, presided. In the course of his report, the vicar stated that Excellent progress had been made during the year under review. Church attendance had increased and the four parish Sunday schools were in a flourishing state. All mission quotas had been paid in full and a considerable sum forwarded to the Cathedral appeal fund. The buildings and furniture had been vyell maintained and a sum was now in hand to place the St. Margaret’s schoolroom on concrete foundations and effect repairs. A new double chimney had been erected at the vicarage recently and this had proved very satisfactory. The treasurer (Mr R. W. Fitzsimons) presented the statement of accounts, which showed a substantial credit balance over the past year. The vicar thanked the churchwardens, synodsman and vestrymen for their help and co-operation during the past twelve months. Reference was made to the illness of Mr. R. Culnitt (people's warden), and best wishes were extended to him for a speedy recovery. After the election of officers for the ensuing year, supper was served by the ladies’ committee.
The annual visitation of the Archdeacon for the northern portion of the district will be held at St. Martin’s Church, Mangamipa, next Wednesday. Taihape wij be represented bv the vicar and tnp two churchwardens.
