WANGANUI EAST CROQUET CLUB
The Wanganui Easte Croquet Club closed the 1945-43 season last Saturday, when the president (Mrs. Halligan), on behalf of members, presented Mr. Black, their caretaker, with a small token of appreciation. A cake competition which was drawn resulted ir. Mrs. Walpole winning the prize. Afternoon tea was served and the following trophies won during the season were presented by Mrs. Halligan:— President's handicap: Mrs. Walpole; runner-up, Mrs. Bradshaw. Currin Cup championship. Mrs. Harris; run-ner-up, Mrs. Drummond. Championsnip doubles: (A) Mrs Drummond and Mrs Kerr; runners-up. Mrs. Bradshaw and Mrs. Walpole: (B) Mrs. Gower and Mrs. Ginn; runners-up, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs., Gooager. Championship B Ginn Cup: Mrs. Taylor; runner-up, Mrs. Gower. A grade’Yankee: Mrs. Harris 1, Mrs. Drummond 2. B grade Yankee: Mrs. Gower 1. Mrs. Taylor 2. Saturday’s play resulted as follows: A grade (Mrs. Halligan’s trophy), Mrs. Kerr; B grade (Mrs. Currin’s trophy), Mrs. Gower; A grade breaks (Mrs. Tavlor's trophy). Mrs. Gilbertson. Posies were presented nv Mesdames Ginn and Chapman to Mrs. Halligan (president). Mrs. Kerr (captain) and Mrs. Currin (hon. secretary).
