RANGITIKEI RUGBY

REPRESENTATIVE GAMES ARRANGED (OC.) Marton, May 8. A programme of representative matches lor the next two months was mapped out by the Management Committee of the Rangitikei Rugby SubUnion at its meeting in Marion on Tuesday nignt. The senior representatives are to play the Wanganui Metropolitan B reps, in Wanganui on May 25 as a curtain-raiser to the TaihapeMetropolitan A match. These matches have been arranged to allow the Wanganui selectors an opportunity of seeing some of the country talent, before announcing the Wanganui team to play Taranaki in Wanganui on June 3. Mr. L. Mcßeth (Marton) was appointed manager of the Rangitikei team. To facilitate the selection of the Rangitikei team, a North v. South Rangilikei match will be played at Marton on Wednesday, May 15. Mr. F. S. Spooner (Rata) was appointed manager of the two teams. The Glen Cup wdl be at stake. The Oroua Rugby Sub-Union wrote requesting a senior representative m,atch. The le.ter pointed out that as the last match was played in 1940 in Oroua, they were prepared to play the game in Rangitikei. The match wa 3 accepted, and it was decided to submit Saturday, June 22, as a suitable date and June 29 as an alternative. The ma.ch is to be played at Marton. As a curtain-raiser it was decided to invite; the Wanganui Union to send a team to play the Rangitikei thirds. It was left to the chairman and president to arrange a junior representa.ive match, probably against Taihape, at Taihape on the day of the Oroua match. It was decided to play at Marton on Muy 25 North v- South junior and third grade representative matches, the day the senior reps, are playing Wanganui in Wanganui. All compe>itions for this day are to be suspended ana carried forward one week. The north junior representatives are to be r-’oeted from Hunterville and Mar on and the south from Athletic and Rangitikei. Mr. F. England was appointed manager. The north third representatives are to be selected fiom Rata, Marton A.T.C. and Hunterville, and the south from Flock House, Bulk, Marton and Marton D.H. School. Mr. L. J. Tank wqs appointed manager. Challenge Cup Presented. The offer to present a challenge cup to the union, to be awarded to the member of the Rangitikei senior replesemative, who, alter playing in no less than three matches in that team, has most wox thily upheld the traditions of Rugby ii/T espect to sportsmanship conduct, team work and personal ability, was made by Mr. Henwcod. Mr. Henwood, who suggested the conditions, said that he had in- ' ended donating a cup for the midget competition, but there was now little likelihood of this competition eventuating, and therefore he was prepared t< donate a cup for ano. her purpose.
