(P.A.) Wellington, April 23. The Wellington provincial golf championship was won to-day by D. G. Sutton (Heretaunga), who beat D. Oliver (Shandon # Ciub) at the 32nd hole. The Easter’tournament at Heretaunga was Sutton's first experience of championship play. J. L. BLAIR WINS SOUTH ISLAND TITLE (P.A.) Christchurch. April 23. | J. L. Blair had a comfortable win over O A. Y. Johnston in the final • of the South Island golf championship iat Shirley to-day. ' Johnston was in trouble with his tee shots throughout the game, but in the first half made some fine recoveries, and, with five successive one-putt greens, was one up at the turn. Blair came home in 37. to lead two up after the morning round, and in the afternoon Johnston’s onlv win was at the :20th. Blair turned for home three up and sank very long putts for wins at three of the next four holes, taking the game 6 up and 5. Blair was on’v one over par for the last seven 1 holes. !
