Dr. R. Orgias has been appointed resident house surgeon at Wellington Hospital.
Mr. E. G. Boyack, son of Mrs. and the late Mr. C. Boyack, Keith Street, Wanganui, passed the examination for chief officer (merchant marine), at the School of Navigation, Auckland.
Mr. W. Parsonage has been appointed Officer for Islands Education. In the past four years he has been on the staff of the Native School Inspectorate, prior to which he was Director of Education, Tonga.
Sir Michael Myers, Chief Justice, was sworn in as administrator of the Government at a special meeting of the Executive Council held at 8 o’clock yesterday morning, states a Press Association message from Wellington.
Mr. K. A Ballinger, A.M.1.C.E., has been appointed borough engineer lor Oamaru. He is at present engineer to the Lake County Council, Queensland. Mr. Ballinger is a son of Mrs. and the late Mr. A. E. Ballinger, St. John's Hill. He is an old pupil of the Wanganui Technical College.
Mr. Henri Penn, A.R.A.M. (London), will return to Australia next week to resume musical activities. During his stay in New Zealand he has played for Oscar Natzke, Peter Dawson, Harold Williams, and for two years was engaged in recitals and concerts in Service camps, including a visit to New Caledonia.
Colonel T. W. McDonald, a member of the Wellington Education Board, after the expiration of l <s term as a member of the boarct in July, will not seek re-election. Representative of the Hutt-Horowhenua urban area, Colonel McDonald was first elected to the board 40 years ago, and has held office since, except for breaks when serving on military service overseas or in the Dominion.
