SPORT ATTRACTIONS FOR EASTER

COMPREHENSIV E PROGRAMME IN WANGANUI. Easter falls this year at a time when summer sports are winding up and winter activities are getting into their stride, and subsequently it will be one of the most active periods experienced in Wanganui sports circles for a large number of years. The Wanganui Collegiate School is holding an extensive old boys’ rally at Easter which will be coupled with varied sport fixtures, and in addition to these activities, the Kaierau Rugby Football Club will celebrate its Golden Jubilee. COLLEGIATE PROGRAMME. Easter activities at the Collegiate School will commence with the school’s annual athletic sports which will be held on the school grounds on Easter Saturday and Monday. On Tuesday morning,—the dav after the old boys’ Victory Ball—a Rugby football match between a team of old boys and the school will be played. KAIERAU JUBILEE. To mark the elapse of 50 years since the founding of the Kaierau Rugby Football Club that sporting body will be holding their Golden Jubilee celebrations. Commencing on Good Friday with a march of members to the war memorial in the morning, celebrabration will continue throughout the week-end. concluding with an Old Timers’ dance in the Gonville Town Hall on Monday evening. Saturday will be the gala day for the club, for at 10 a.m. a series of grade matches will be played; at 2 p.m. an Old Timers’ match; while at 3 p.m. the Kaierau senior team will play a match against Oriental (Wellington, on Spriggens Park. The day will be brought to a ‘‘Happy’’ conclusion with

the social evening and smoke concert which will be held in the club's gymnasium at 8 p.m. Sunday has been sei aside for a tri; to Farikino, where cricket will be played; while on Monday, leaving at 9 o clock, members and friends will spend the day up-river at. Upokongaro. WANGANUI SAILING CLUB.

Although there will be no sailing races on the river over Easter, the two champion boats of the Wanganui Club will be racing at the Paremata Easter Regatta. The Cedric, owned and sailed by Mr. B. Armit, has an extensive programme to get tnrough, as she has been entered for two races on Good Friday, two on both Saturday and Sunday and one on Monday. The important fixture lor the Cedric will be the Wellington Province Rona-Jellicoe class championship, which will be held on Sunday afternoon. The other yacht, lhe Z class boat Rosalie (M. Wall) will compete for the Duncan Cup the provincial championship for unde? 21 skipperswhich will also be sailed on Easter Sunday afternoon. Like the Cedric, Rosalie has entered for .seven races.
