Brigadier C. L. Pleasants was elected president of the Wanganui Garrison Officers' Club at the annual general meeting on Wednesday night. Mr. J. B. Davis, postmaster at Morrinsville, has retired after 40 years’ service with the Post and Telegraph Department. Mr. H. L. R. Read, of Christchurch, has been appointed employment officer for the Hamilton branch of the National Employment Service. Lieut-Colonel D. A. C. Lilburne, ED., who died during the year, was referred to at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Garrison Officers’ Club Mr. K. Menzies, of Wellington, gen- i eral treasurer and a member of the executive committee of the New Zealand Public Service Association, is visit.ng Wanganui.
The Rev. D. S. Millar, vicar of St. Thomas’ Church, Union Street, Auckland, has been appointed vicar of St. Columba’s Church, Grey Lynn, in succession to the Rev. R. Godfrey. W.0.1. Jean Gordon, of Hunterville, has been selected as one of the New Zealand contingent for the Victory Parade in London. She served in the Pacific and is still a member of the armed forces. Messrs. W. "G. Kirkman, factorysuperintendent of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., E. V. Quick, assistant-secretary, E. E. Gillman, architect, and G. W. Kepple, electrical engineer, have retired. Mr. G. P. Williamson, newly elected to the Board of Managers of the Wanganui Technical College, took his sea! at the April meeting of the board held on Wednesday night. The chairman, Mrs. J. C. Batt, in extending a welcome, expressed confidence that Mr.'. Williamson would prove a valuable member of the board and wished him congenial associations with his fellow members. ••••*•••••••••••••••••••••
