SERVICES RECOGNISED PRESENTATION TO MR. AND MRS. F. CHING. (0.C.) Hunterville, April 9. Services rendered to the Hunterville Consolidated School over a long period by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ching were recognised at a social evening held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. G. Snadden. Mr. and Mrs. Ching are to leav Hunlerville shortly to take up residence is Wanganui and the function took the form of a farewell. Members of the School Committee and their wives were present, and during the evening Mr. D. D. Simpson (chairman) referred to the work Mr. Ching had done as a member of the committee and to the ready co-opera-tion of Mrs. Ching, particularly at the children’s ball. On behalf of the commitlee and the headmaster, Mr. Simpson presented the departing guests with a casserole dish. RIFLE CLUB TO BE RE-FORMED. There is a move in Hunterville to revive the old Rifle Club, which went into recess many years ago. With this end in view -a public meeting is to be called by the R.S.A., which has undertaken to sponsor the movemen I. AN “AUSSIE” WELCOMED. At the annual meeting of the R.S.A. on Saturday evening the president (Mr. R. M. S. Jones) extended a warm welcome to Mr. E. C. G. Ball, who haa served for six years with the Aus. tralian forces in the recent war. Mr. Ball was now on the staff of the Union Bank of Australia, said Mr. Jones, and was joining up with the R.S.A. It was something unique for the branch to have an “Aussie” member, and he hoped Mr. and Mrs. Ball would enjoy their sojourn in Hunterville. Mr. Ball briefly replied.
