STORE SHEEP SELL WELL
LIVESTOCK REPORTS
GOOD MARKET AT WANGANUI SALE Store sheep sold at advanced rates and all other classes were firm at the Wanganui stock sale yesterday, although conditions were far from suitable from the vendors’ point of view. Freeman R. Jackson and Co. report a yarding of 3200 sheep and 120 head of cattle and despite intermittent very heavy rain and only a moderate attendance all store sheep improved in values on last week’s sale. Fat sheep were at late rates with fat cattle fully firm. Oddments of boner cows and store cattle sold at late rates. No store pigs were yarded, but a fair entry of heavy porkers and light baconers sold well. Vealers and runners were at late rates. Sheep.—Fat ewes to 22s 6d; fat wethers, 31s 6d, 32s 6d; ’Down cross, 24s Id, 26s 9d; 5-year breeding ewes, 16s, 19s 3d: broken month ewes (low conditioned), 6s 3d, 8s 6d; fat and forward ewes, 13s, 16s 2d; small twotoooth, 16s 7d, 21s 4d; empty, 4-tooth ewes, 275, 27s 9d; medium wether lambs, Ils, 14s 9d; ditto ewe, 12s 6d, 15s Id; cull lambs, 5s 6d, 8s 9d; b.f. lambs, 7s 7d, 12s 7d. Cattle.—Fat P.A. cows, £9, £10; prime S.H. cows, £lO 15s; fat Jersey, £6 10s, £8 17s 6d; good boners, £5, £6 2s 6d;; boners. £2 10s, £4 10s; Jersey heifers, spring calvers, £6; Jersey weaner heifers, £4 ss, £4 7s 6d. Pigs.—Porkers, £2 14s, £3 10s; light baconers, £3 12s 6d, £4. Is. Vealers—Good 2-year heifers to £9 15s; runners, £6 ss, £7 17s 6d; vealers, £2, £4 15s.
