FURTHER WITHDRAWALS POSTPONEMENT URGED BY MINISTERS Recd. 10 p.m. Athens, March 9. M. Kafandaris, deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Progressive Republicans, announced that the party would abstain from the elections on March 31. M. Kafandaris announced he was resigning on Sunday, together with four other Progressive Republican Ministers. M. Alexander Mylonas, Minister of Finance and leader of the Agrarian Republicans, announced he would resign unless the general elections were postponed at least a month. M. Kafandaris, explaining the Progressive Republicans’ decision to abstain from the elections, said:—“We are heading for an electoral parody fraught with terrible dangers. Under cover of legality an attempt is being made to strangle the people’s will.”

M. Sofoulis announced that the elections would take place on the appointed day, March 31.
