Blenheim. March 5. No immediate improvemer' in the supply of confectionery z» n Biscuits can be expected in New Zealand for some time. This view was expressed by representatives of manufacturing firms during the annual conference of the New Zealand Biscuit and Confectionery Manufacturers’ Association which ended at The Portage, Marlborough Sounds, to-day. The problem of mantaining present supplies was described as acute, due to the shortage of sugar and glucose, while tinplate for containers is also in short supply. Officers elected, were:—President, Mr. R. Hudson (Dunedin): chairman, Mr. C. V. Smi(h (Dunedin); executive, Messrs. G. A. Longhurst (Auckland!, C. H. Griffin (Wellington), A. C. Holmes (Christchurch), and St. C. Ferguson (Dunedin); secretary, Mr D. I. McDonald.
