RAGLAN BY-ELECTION RESULT JOHNSTONE’S MAJORITY SLENDER j ’ Polling m the Raglan by-election-rendered necessary through the death of Mr. R. Coulter, took place yesterday and resulted in a win for th* Nationalist candidate, Mr. Hallyburton Johnstore, who secured a majority of 194 votes over his Labour opponent, Mr. Alan C. Baxter. There
are still 530 absentee and postal vofos to be counted, according to a Pres* Association message from Auckland. Civilian voting totals gave the following figures for the respective candidates : JOHNSTONE (National) BAXTER (Labour) 4W9 Including forces’ votes to hand the final totals were as follows: — JOHNSTONE (National) 4627 BAXTER (Labour) 4433 The result at the 1943 election in Raglan was as follows: R.
