NATIONAL GATHERING AT NEW BRIGHTON (P.A.) Christchurch, March 3. The New Zealand Surf Life-saving Association’s national championships were held at New Brighton yesterday and to-day, when 19 teams from all parts of the Dominion competed. The seas were satisfactory for championship swimming, though there was a strong current. The weather to-day was chilly. Results:— Junior rescue and resuscitation: New Brighton, 66.18 points, 1: South Brighton, 64.85, 2; Sumner, 60.17, 3; Maranui was disqualified. Women’s four-man alarm: Wellington B, 64.08 points, 1; Wellington A, 61.49, 2; North Beach, 61.29, 3. Senior individual surface: N. N. Chambers, New Brighton, 1; C. Chambers, New Brighton. 2; N. J. Davison, North Beach, 3; time, 6min 34sec.

Junior surf-teams' championship: New Brighton, 1; Maranui. 2; South Brighton, 3; time 20min 55sec.

Four-man alarm: Maranui B, 67.19 points. 1; North Beach B, 66.28. 2; Lyall Bay A, 62.68, 3. Senior surf teams’ relay: New Brighton, 1: Maranui, 2; South Brighton, 3; time, 18.44 4-5.

Senior resuscitation championship: J. Hatchwell, Maranui. L. Laughton, Lyall Bay and D. Begg, South Brighton, were placed first equal, each to hold the shield for four months.
